On Gentle Speech

In the technical repertoire of the Deep Philosophy community, there is a technique known as precious speaking. The best translation of this term is probably 'gentle speaking.' It invites individuals to be very mindful of their words, allowing only valuable, meaningful constructs to surface. Every word spoken should carry weight.

Generally, precious speaking aligns with brevity – speaking scarcely, in literally one to two or three sentences. It implies the selection of the most precise words. But these words should not only be precise in the cognitive sense; they should also resonate emotionally: gentle speech flows from the soul, and thus touches the soul. It is touching speech.

The symbols, images, metaphors, concepts that resonate are those you have, in a sense, birthed, co-created right now, in this moment of expression, rather than replaying one of your favorite records yet again (narratives, ideologemes, abstract theories, or just plain logophages).

In other words, gentle speech is living speech. It allows the heartbeat of the author's expression to be felt, to touch, to resonate with the duration (durée) of their existence. It is a melody, the sound of being-in-the-world, the unique voice of this-here person.
